36 more die, 2,537 cases detected

Bangladesh has seen a further jump in the number of infections from coronavirus over the last 24 hours till Wednesday morning.

During the period, the country registered 2,537 cases from the virus, up by 215 than Tuesday’s 2,322 and highest daily tally since April 28 last.

The daily positivity rate has also risen to 12.33 per cent from Tuesday’s 12.12 per cent while the overall infection rate stands at 13.39 per cent. Meanwhile, the number of virus-related deaths has seen a fall during the last 24 hours with 36 registered against Tuesday’s 44.

With this, the national death toll has reached 12,949 with a case fatality rate of 1.58 per cent while the caseload has shot to 817,819.

Another 2,267 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period, raising the total number of recoveries to 757,569. The recovery rate stands at 92.63 per cent, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

A total of 20,584 samples were tested at 510 labs in the country during the period. With this, 6,106,791 samples have so far been tested across the country.
