Rainfall likely to decrease by end of week

The light to moderate rainfall across the country may decrease by Thursday as a low is likely to form in the bay during this period.

Ruhul Kuddus, a meteorologist of Bangladesh Meteorological Department, said, “The current rainfall may drop after June 10-11 as a low may form in the bay.”

Southwest monsoon has advanced up to Chattogram, Barishal, Dhaka, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions. Conditions are favourable for further advancement of southwest monsoon over remaining parts of the country.

Monsoon is fairly active over Chattogram, Barishal, Dhaka, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and moderate over northeast Bay.

Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur in many places over Dhaka, Mymensingh, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and in a few places over Rajshahi, Rangpur and Khulna divisions with moderately heavy to heavy rainfall in places over the country, forecasts BMD.

Mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over Khulna division and the districts of Tangail, Faridpur, Gopalganj, Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajganj and Dinajpur according to BMD.
