The number of coronavirus infection cases has risen in the last 24 hours till Monday morning as 1,970 new cases have been detected and 30 died in the country during the time.
According to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), total number of deaths from the deadly pathogen has reached 12,869 with 30 new deaths. The total death rate has stood at 1.58 percent. The daily infection rate has risen to 11.47 percent in the last 24 hours.Some 1,918 more patients have recovered from the fatal disease in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of recovery to 7,53,240 in the country till the day. The recovery rate has stood 92.65 percent.
The DGHS said 13.40 percent of the samples have been diagnosed with coronavirus till the date while 11.47 percent samples have been diagnosed with the fatal disease in a day.
A total of 17,169 samples, out of 17,666 collected, were tested at 510 labs in the country during the period, the report added. A total of 60,67,042 samples have been tested so far to detect coronavirus infection across the country.
The first case of Covid-19 was detected on March 8 last year while the first death was recorded on March 18 the same year in the country.
Both infections and deaths from coronavirus started to decline from the first week of July last year and the fall continued till the first week of March this year.
However, the numbers started rising further from March 10. Highest 7,626 cases were reported on April 7 and record 112 deaths were registered on April 19.Following a fresh surge in both infections and deaths from the deadly pathogen, the government enforced a lockdown which has been extended until May 30 further.
The government has extended the ongoing lockdown by another week until June 6 as there has been no substantial improvement in the Covid-19 situation.
