Banks to remain open from 10am to 3pm

The ongoing limited banking operations from 10am to 3pm have been extended until June 16 for facilitating the financial transaction of their clients during the lockdown.

The central bank’s department of off-site supervision on Sunday issued a notification in this regard and sent it to the top executives of all scheduled banks.

According to the notification, banking transaction hours has fixed from 10 am to 3 pm for customers while banks can remain open until 4.30 pm to do their necessary ancillary activities.

The BB circular said all other instructions will remain unchanged as per the circular of 13 April. In that circular, it said banks can keep one non-AD branch open within a 2km radius in the city corporation areas and at upazila level one branch of each bank can remain open on Thursday, Sunday and Tuesday.

The BB circular said that banks have to ensure different kinds of services including clearing of cheques, withdrawal and deposits of money, money transfer, release of remittance, encashment of different instruments and also receipt of the payments of bills of different utilities. The BB instruction also asked banks to keep adequate banknotes at ATM booths with ensuring health protection and sanitization measures.
