24, 591 tonnes of Boro rice to be procured in Jashore

JASHORE: The government has fixed a target to procure a total of 24, 591 tonnes of Boro rice (boiled) from the millers in eight upazilas of the district this year, food department sources said.

According to District food controller office sources, 6,022 tonnes of Boro rice would be procured from Sadar upazila, 5,767 from Sharsha, 5,463 from Abhaynagar, 1,066 from Monirampur, 2,542 from Bagherpara, 1,782 from Jhikargacha, 1,265 from Chaugacha and 684 from Keshabpur upazila during the current season, reports BSS.

District food controller Md Abdur Rahman said price of per kilogram of Boro rice has also been fixed at Tk 40 this year. Rice procurement will continue till August 16, he said.
