Dhallywood superstar Shakib Khan, who has won the hearts of millions with his fabulous acting style, has completed 22 years of his acting career recently. On May 28 in 1999, the actor first stood in front of camera for the film ‘Ananta Bhalobasa’ directed by Sohanur Rahman Sohan. Since then, Shakib Khan has been presenting popular films one after another.
Shakib Khan has shared his feeling about his 22 journey in an Instagram post recently. The post reads, “When I started my film career, I was an immature wide eyed kid. I didn’t know where I’m going or what I would be. I just knew that I had to work hard never give up and seize every moment.”
“Gratitude to my first film Ononto Valobasa’s director and producer who selected me. And also humble thanks to all my directors-producers, my colleagues, well wishers and specially love to my fans for making me who I’m today”, the post added.
Born on March 28 in 1979, Shakib Khan is a Bangladeshi film actor, producer, occasional singer, film organiser and media personality who works in Bengali films, both in Bangladesh and West Bengal. In his career spanning over two decades, Shakib Khan has been the propeller of the contemporary film industry Dhallywood. He is popularly known in the media as ‘King Khan’, ‘King of Dhallywood’ and ‘Number One Shakib Khan’, also referred as ‘Bhaijaan of Dhallywood’. Currently he is the highest paid actor in Bangladesh.
Following his debut in Sohanur Rahman Sohan’s ‘Ananto Bhalobasa’, Shakib did not lead to widespread fame. Subsequently, he established himself as one of the most successful actors in Bengali cinema. The Badiul Alam Khokon-directed ‘Priya Amar Priya’ in which Khan played a college student with careless attitude, was a major commercial success in his career with grossed Tk150 million and become the second highest-grossing film and earned him highest remuneration.
His ‘Shikari’s new look garnered him praised from the audience and critics and was declared as a blockbuster at the box office, and become the highest-grossing Bengali film of 2016.

Shakib Khan has earned numerous accolades in his long career, including four National Film Awards, eight Meril Prothom Alo Awards, three Bachsas Awards and five CJFB Performance Awards.
He won his first National Film Awards for Best Actor in 2010 for the film ‘Bhalobashlei Ghor Badha Jaina’.
