97 more test positive for Covid-19 in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM: A total of 97 more people tested positive for Covid-19 in Chattogram district during the last 24 hours, reports BSS.

The infection rate is 9.79 percent, Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram, told BSS today.

The number of Covid-19 cases reached 53,960 as 97 more people tested positive after testing their samples at nine Covid-19 laboratories in the district till Friday evening, he added.

The daily infection rate is showing a slight reduction compared to the previous day’s figure of 111, but the recovery rate has been improving continuously here in recent weeks,” the health official further said.

Among the newly detected patients, 45 are from Chattogram city and 52 from different upazilas of the district.

The health expert urged city dwellers again and again to strictly follow health rules and use masks to reduce the continuous rising trend of corona infections here.

The number of coronavirus deaths in Chattogram is 626 while no death was reported from anywhere in the district, Dr Rabbi continued.

“Among the reported fatalities, 447 were the residents of the port city and the rest were from different upazilas of the district,” he said.

Among the total 53,960 coronavirus infected people, 42,876 are the residents of the port city and the rest are the inhabitants of different upazilas of the district, he added.

“The number of recovered patients from the lethal virus infection has reached 42,228 in the district with recovery of 401 more patients on Thursday,” the health official said, adding that the percentage of recovery rate stands at 78.25.

A total of 5,899 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at designated hospitals, he said.
