Bangladesh hold Afghans

A late goal by Topu Barman helped Bangladesh earn their second point in the FIFA, AFC joint qualifiers as they held favourites Afghanistan 1-1 at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium in Doha, Qatar on Thursday.

After a barren first-half, forward Amiruddin Mohammad Anwar Sharifi gave Afghanistan the lead in the 48th minute but Topu made an excellent equaliser in the 84th minute to level the margin.

Bangladesh will now face India in their penultimate match on June 7 before they take on Oman on June 15 in their last qualifier match, both at the same venue.
