Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Standing Committee Member Nazrul Islam Khan on Monday urged the government to allow their party Chairperson Khaleda Zia to go abroad for better treatment.
“Khaleda Zia has been remaining imprisoned unjustly and she’s now ill. We demand her release from jail as we want her to recover from illness,” he said. The BNP leader made the request while inaugurating a photo exhibition arranged by Jatiyatabadi Samajik Sangskritik Sangstha in memory of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office in the capital, marking his 40th death anniversary.
He demanded that Khaleda Zia should be given an opportunity to go abroad for the treatment she needs like any other citizen and political leaders of the country.
“The restriction that has been unjustly imposed on her in this regard should be withdrawn,” said Nazrul Islam.
He said people are living in miseries for lack of a pro-people government amid the coronavirus outbreak.
“We want an end to the miseries of people. We think establishing a democratic and responsible government is the only solution to the ongoing crisis in the country,” he said.
The BNP leader also demanded Jatiya Sangsad election under non-party and neutral election-time government to establish a ‘responsible’ government.Claiming that BNP had long been in a struggle to ‘restore’ democracy and overcome the country’s all crises, he hoped that their goal will surely be achieved.
