Female doctor found dead in her city flat

Police recovered bodies of two persons, including a female doctor, in the capital on Monday.

In Kalabagan, police recovered the body of the female doctor named Kazi Sabira Rahman Lipi, 47, from a flat at house No. 50/1, First Lane Bhaban.

She was a doctor of Radiology Department at Green Life Hospital in the capital.

Paritosh Chandra, officer-in-charge of Kalabagan Police Station, told the Daily Sun, “On information, police went to the house and recovered the body which bore injury marks on its back and throat. We primarily think that somebody might have killed the doctor.”

A team of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) visited the spot and collected evidences. The body was sent to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue for autopsy.

Three persons, including security guard, of the building have been held for interrogation, he said. No case was filed till 6:00pm.

Kabir Hasan, a relative of the victim, said Doctor Lipi lived alone in one room of the flat while she sublet two other rooms to subtenants.

Lipi was the wife of Shamshur Rahman Azad, a banker by profession. The couple has a son, 21, and daughter, 20, who live in their grandfather’s house on Green Road while Azad lives in a house at Shantinagar.

In another incident, police recovered six parts of the body of one Maina Mia, 38, on Sunday night and Monday afternoon from Banani.

Police recovered the mutilated body without its limbs and head from Amtali in Mohakhali on Sunday night.

Later, police recovered its limbs from Ena Bus Counter at Mohakhali and head from Banani Lake area on Monday afternoon, said Iftekharul Islam, additional deputy commissioner (Media and Public Relations) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

The officer said that they would hold a press briefing on the murder at the DMP media centre on Tuesday.

Nure Azam, officer-in-charge of Banani Police Station, said that they arrested an accused in connection with the murder.

The information of the accused helped the cops recover the head of the body.

His body was sent to DMCH morgue for autopsy.
