Ruling Awami League (AL) General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Sunday was strongly critical of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) for ‘being subservient to its foreign masters’.

“Bangladesh Nationalist Party has no foreign friends but masters,” he said while addressing a virtual press conference from his official residence on parliament premises in the capital.

Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said Awami League has foreign friends, not masters.

“It is the BNP which turned the country into a failed state during their regime while Awami League has brightened the country’s image,” he said.

The AL spokesperson said that Bangladesh has already gained reputation under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina by maintaining a balanced foreign policy.
