The number of daily coronavirus infection cases has increased while number of death has declined as 1,444 new infection cases and 34 deaths have been recorded in the country in the last 24 hours till Sunday morning.
According to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the total number of deaths from the deadly pathogen has reached 12,583 with 34 new deaths. The total death rate has stood at 1.58 percent. Some 1,444 infection cases were reported in the last 24 hours till Sunday morning, raising the total number to 798,830. The daily infection rate has climbed to 10.11 percent in the last 24 hours which reported 7.91 percent on Saturday.Some 1,397 patients recovered from the fatal disease in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of recovery to 7,38,805 in the country till the day. The recovery rate has stood 92.48 percent.
The DGHS said 13.47 percent of the samples have been diagnosed with coronavirus till the date.
A total of 14,277 samples, including some pending ones, were tested at 502 labs in the country during the period, the report added. A total of 5,929,335 samples have been tested so far to detect coronavirus infection across the country.
The first case of Covid-19 was detected on March 8 last year while the first death was recorded on March 18 the same year in the country.
Both infections and deaths from coronavirus started to decline from the first week of July last year and the fall continued till the first week of March this year.
However, the numbers started rising further from March 10. Highest 7,626 cases were reported on April 7 and record 112 deaths were registered on April 19. Following a fresh surge in both infections and deaths from the deadly pathogen, the government enforced a lockdown which has been extended until June 6 further.
