48th death anniv of ex-MP Nurul Haque today

The 48th death anniversary of AFM Nurul Haque Hawlader, a prominent politician, one of the organizers of the Liberation War and a former member of parliament (MP), will be observed today, reports BSS.

On this occasion, the Nurul Haque Foundation will organize several programmes including visiting graveyard, offering Quran recitation, holding milad-mahfil and special prayers at Nurul Haque’s village home following health rules.

Nurul Haque, father of Zubaida Haque Ajanta, presidium member of Amra Muktijuddhar Shantan, was shot dead by assassins in 1973 at his residence at Shaldha under Naria upazila in Shariatpur district.

Md Sazzad Hossain, senior reporter of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) and former joint secretary of Dhaka Reporter’s Unity (DRU), is his son-in-law.

During his lifetime, he served in various important positions of the local Awami League with great efficiency.

In his personal life, he was a very affectionate and close companion of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Nurul Haque was an active leader on the streets of Dhaka during the mass uprising of 1969.
