All 12 participating teams of the upcoming Dhaka Premier League entered their respective bio-bubble facilities on Saturday ahead of the domestic T20 competition, scheduled to start on Monday.

The teams are staying at four city hotels – Amari Dhaka, The Westin Dhaka and Four Points by Sheraton Dhaka and InterContinental Dhaka as Bangladesh Cricket Board is spending nearly TK seven crore for setting up these secure systems.

The national cricketers, who were part of Bangladesh’s recently-concluded ODI series against Sri Lanka, are expected to enter DPL bio-bubble by today after undergoing a mandatory Covid-19 test.

However, Imrul Kayes and Tushar Imran along with three club officials were tested positive for coronavirus and they underwent another Covid-19 test on Saturday after coming positive on Friday’s test reports.

Both the players only can join their respective sides - Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club and Brothers Union if they tested negative for Covid-19.

Meanwhile, the nine cricketers and officials, who were tested Covid-19 positive during the first test, all came negative in the second test.

Abahani Limited will face Partex Sporting Club in the opening match of the competition at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium as a total of six matches will take place on each match day.

The 2019-20 season of DPL was earlier postponed on March 19 last year after just one round due to the outbreak of coronavirus in the country.

The competition is now getting a fresh start and will be played in T20 format instead of the usual 50 over-format in three different venues – Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, BKSP-3 and BKSP-4.
