A teenage boy and a minor girl were killed in separate incidents at Kadamtali and Pallabi in the capital on Friday.

In an incident at Kadamtali, Arafat Yaseen, 18, was stabbed with a knife over senior-junior conflict on Thursday.  He succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Friday morning. Abdul Hai Sohel, brother of Yaseen, said that Shuvo, Prince and some others were locked in a conflict over a cricket game before Eid-ul-Fitr.

A group of teenagers led by Shuvo and Prince attacked his brother at RS Supar Tower in Sanirakhra in Kadamtali at about 10:30pm on Thursday.

At one stage, one of them stabbed his brother with a sharp knife, leaving him in a pool of blood, he said.

Yaseen was rushed to the DMCH where he was declared dead at about 6:00am on Friday.

Jamal Uddin Mir, officer-in-charge of Kadamtali Police Station, told the Daily Sun that they arrested eight teenagers for their involvement in the killing.

In response to a question whether they were the members of any teen gang, he replied in the negative.

The body of Yaseen was sent to DMCH morgue for autopsy.

In another incident at Pallabi, Sohana Akhter, 9, was killed allegedly by her stepmother at their house on Friday morning.

Shahinur Akhter, stepmother of Sohana, tortured her at their house at Adarshanagar in Mirpur-11 in the morning. She hit the victim’s head with something stiff. She was rushed to a local hospital where she died.

Parves Islam, officer-in-charge of Pallabi Police Station, told the Daily Sun that they arrested stepmother Shahinur, 30.
