Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh on Thursday said that he does not approve of city dwellers dropping litter hither and thither.
“We have revamped the waste management system. We have a target to set up secondary transfer station in all wards from where we will carry it (waste) to our landfill. We don’t want waste dumped here and there anymore,” he said.He made the statements at the inaugural ceremony of a secondary transfer station for waste at Sayedabad area in the capital. The mayor said construction work of all secondary transfer stations will end by December this year.
About the modernisation of the waste management system, Taposh said the city corporation will buy 30 compactors to take rubbish to the landfill directly.
