The Anti-Corruption Com-mission (ACC) sent letters to various institutions, including banks, seeking information about the wealth of Hefazat-e-Islam leaders.

The anti-graft body also sought information from the authorities concerned regarding the passports of a number of Hefazat leaders.

ACC Secretary M Anwar Hossain Hawlader came up with the information while talking to journalists at the commission’s Segunbagicha headquarters in the capital on Thursday.

He said the ACC sent letters to various government departments, including banks, seeking information on the assets of the top 50 leaders of Hefazat-e-Islam.

The commission will start the next course of action as soon as the information comes from these departments, he added

Earlier, the anti-graft body on May 17 formed a six-member committee led by its Director Aktar Hossain Azad to probe the allegations against the leaders of the Qawmi madrasa-based organisation.
