Initiatives taken to help farmers purchase agri tools: Razzaque

Government has taken initiatives to provide loans to farmers on easy term from banks for purchasing agricultural machinery easily, Agriculture Minister Dr. Muhammad Abdur Razzaque said.

The agriculture minister remark this while speaking as the chief guest at a view exchange meeting with stakeholders to speed up agricultural mechanisation through virtual platform from the conference room of the ministry on Thursday.

“Combine harvesters, reapers and other agricultural equipments are being given to the farmers with 50-70 per cent subsidies in the regions. But even with that, the farmers have to pay Tk 10-15 lakhs to buy a combine harvester, which most of farmers can not afford,” the minister said.

He said, “At present most of the equipments has to be imported from abroad and we want to reduce it. We are also emphasising on setting up factories to manufacture the spare parts locally and planning to launch repairing workshop so that we will be able to increase employment opportunities for the people of our country.”
