Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh on Tuesday said they are dealing with the mosquito menace in the capital in the most successful way in the history of the City Corporation.

He made the statement at the seventh meeting of the second board of the City Corporation after the bifurcation of Dhaka City Corporation in 2011.

Taposh said, “The menace of culex mosque rose a bit in January and February, but apart from that it was under full control in the last 10 months.”

“The season of dengue is ahead. We have to continue our intensive activities and monitoring,” he said.

The mayor asked his officials to pay a careful attention to the under-construction buildings of the government and some colonies where mosquito control workers don’t have any access.

About the development activity, Taposh said, “We are attaching importance on ward-based development. We have decided to establish community centre in every ward. We have already submitted the development plan of 43 five-storied community centers to the local government ministry.”
