Lightning kills six in Ctg, C’nawabganj

Lightning strikes killed six people in Chapainawabganj and Chattogram districts on Monday.

In Chapainawabganj, four people were killed in lightning strikes in separate places in the district.

The deceased were Al Amin, 14, from Shabania area of Sundarbpur union of Sadar upazila in the district, Rabiul Islam, 30, from from Islampur union of the district, Khushi,12, daughter of Biplob, from Huzurapur Moholla of Rohonpur municipality area of the district and Sadia, 10 daughter of Nazmul, from Lalkopara village of Gomostapur Union.

Rabiul Islam was killed when he went to bring buffaloes home. His two buffaloes were also killed in the lightning strike. His father was injured in the strike.  Al Amin was killed in lightning strike while he was picking litchi at Shabania area at noon.

Chapainawabganj Sadar Police Officer-in-Charge Mozaffar Hossain confirmed about the incidents.

Gomostapur Police Officer-in-Charge Dilip Kumar Das said Khushi and Sadia were killed by lightning strike in the afternoon while they were picking mango.

In Chattogram, two construction workers were killed in lightning strike at Anwara upazila in the district on Sunday night.

The deceased were identified as Md Ilias, 45, son of Achhi Mian, and Abul Kashem, 40, son of late Azizur Rahman of Paschim Baraiya area in the upazila.
