Twenty-five more people died of coronavirus infections and 1,441 new cases were detected in the country during the last 24 hours till Monday morning.
According to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the total number of deaths from the deadly pathogen has reached 12,401 with 28 new deaths. The total death rate has stood at 1.57 percent.Some 1,441 infection cases were reported in the last 24 hours till Monday morning, raising the total number to 7,90,521. The daily infection rate has stood at 8.15 percent in the last 24 hours.
Some 834 more patients have recovered from the fatal disease in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of recovery to 7,31,531 in the country till the day. The recovery rate has stood 92.54 percent.
The DGHS said 13.54 percent of the samples have been diagnosed with coronavirus till the date while 8.15 percent samples have been diagnosed with the fatal disease in a day.
A total of 17,683 samples, out of 18,335 collected, were tested at 486 labs in the country during the period, the report added. A total of 58,38,295 samples have been tested so far to detect coronavirus infection across the country.
The first case of Covid-19 was detected on March 8 last year while the first death was recorded on March 18 the same year in the country.
Both infections and deaths from coronavirus started to decline from the first week of July last year and the fall continued till the first week of March this year.However, the numbers started rising further from March 10. Highest 7,626 cases were reported on April 7 and record 112 deaths were registered on April 19.
Following a fresh surge in both infections and deaths from the deadly pathogen, the government enforced a lockdown which has been extended until May 30 further.
