Carrying ailing mother on bike with oxygen cylinder

JHALAKATHI: Nalchity upazila administration of the district has conferred a young man with the ‘Memorial of Honour’ for frantic effort to save his ailing mother.

Nalchity Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Rumpa Sikdar officially handed over the memorial to Ziaul Hasan Titu and his mother in a programme held at the upazila headquarters on Saturday.

Ziaul’s mother school teacher Rehena Parvin was also gifted a Sari on behalf of the Upazila Administration at the programme. Ziaul on April 17, carried an oxygen cylinder -- tied to his back -- while taking his corona infected mother to hospital on his motorcycle.

A picture of the mother-son duo on their way to the hospital went viral on social medial on April 17. The picture also depicted his love and honour towards mother which has set on people’s mind as an example. 

In her speech, UNO Rumpa Sikdar said, “Ziaul Hasan Titu has made an inspirational story for many common people. He showed us how to show respect and do proper duties to our parents and also what to do during an emergency situation. He showed that we all can be the heroes of our own lives, if we have the courage to try”. Among all respected guests at the event, Nalchity Upazila Chairman Siddikur Rahman was present there.
