3,350 Bangladeshis return from India thru Benapole so far

JASHORE: A total of 3,350 Bangladeshi passengers returned from India through Benapole land port till Saturday noon. Among them, seventeen were tested positive for corona.

They are being kept in institutional quarantine in different hotels in Benapole.

According to Benapole immigration sources, From the beginning of the ban, 3,350 Bangladeshi passengers returned from India from April 26 to May 22 at 12 noon. Most of the passengers went to India for treatment.

Benapole Immigration Health Department Medical Officer Dr Utpala Roy said, thirty Bangladeshis returned from India through Benapole land port till 12 noon on Saturday.  They have been kept in institutional quarantine for 14 days at Jhikargachha Gazi Dargah Madrasa and various residential hotels in Jashore.

After 14 days, if their samples are tested again and found negative, they will be allowed to return home.

And those who will be corona positive during this period will be kept in the dedicated corona unit of Jashore General Hospital for treatment.

Benapole Immigration OC Ahsan Habib said, every day, many Bangladeshis from India coming to the port with NOC from Kolkata embassy for returning home.

Indians in Bangladesh are also returning to their country under the same rules.

Passengers are scheduled to return from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.
