Mendis-led side clinch nail-biting win in warm-up game

Kusal Mendis-led Sri Lanka B team defeated Kusal Perera-led Sri Lanka A team by two runs in a thrilling intra-squad warm-up match at the BKSP on Friday.

Niroshan Dickwella and Mendis scored 88 and 69 runs respectively as Sri Lanka B made 284-5 in their stipulated 40 overs before their bowlers held their nerves to bowl Sri Lanka A all out for 282 runs in 37.2 overs in a nine-man per squad match.

Ashen Bandara and Wanindu Hasaranga top scored for Sri Lanka A, making 80 not out and 79 runs respectively while uncapped pacer Chamika Karunaratne claimed 3-40 for Sri Lanka B.

The visitors will now take on Bangladesh in the first of the three-match ODI series on Sunday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in the capital.

The other two matches will be held on May 25 and 28 respectively.
