College student drowns in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM: Members of Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) recovered the body of a missing college student from Sangu river in Satkania upazila on Friday.

The victim was identified as Md Farhan, 19, an eleventh grade student of Hajera Taju Degree College and son of Jamal Khan of Bahoddarhat area in the city.

Sources said Farhan along with his two friends went to visit their friend Tuhin’s residence at Nalua union under the Satkania upazila on Wednesday.

Later, they went to Sangu river for taking a bath on Thursday afternoon.

At one stage, Farhan drowned while he was swimming in the river.

On receiving information, members of the FSCD department rushed to spot.

But, they couldn’t rescue the deceased.

Officer in-Charge (OC) Anwar Hossain of Satkania Police Station said the FSCD men recovered the body on Friday morning after it was spotted in the river. They handed over the body to the family members, he said.
