Prices of most of the essential commodities have declined in the city kitchen markets on Friday while onion price increased.
The consumers have experienced the fall in the prices of the essential goods during the last one week.While visiting Moham-madpur Krishi market, it was seen that price of broiler chicken was sold at Tk 140 per kg while it was Tk 160 a week earlier.
Sonali chicken was sold at Tk 220-260 per kg while it was 300-320 per kg a week earlier and layer chicken was sold at Tk 240-250 like the previous week.
Price of beef was Tk 580-600 per kg while it was Tk 650 a week earlier and price of mutton was Tk 700-850 per kg while it was Tk 950 a week earlier.
Demand of chicken and other meat have increased during Eid, causing hike in prices of those kitchen items, said meat seller Aminul Haque.
Price of sugar was following an increasing trend ahead of Eid. Now loose sugar was sold Tk 75-76 per kg, packet sugar at Tk 78 like the previous week.
Prices of local onions have risen by Tk 10 per kilogram in one week and retailed at Tk 45-55 a kg while imported varieties were sold at Tk 40-45 per kg while it was Tk 35 per kg a week earlier.Cauliflower was selling at Tk 40-50 per piece same as the previous week, brinjal was selling at Tk 40-60 per kg same as the previous week and cucumber price was Tk 30-40 per kg like the previous week.
Pointed guard was selling at Tk 30-40 per kg while it was Tk 40-50 a week earlier. Yardlong bean was selling at Tk 40-50 per kg , okra was at Tk 30-40 per kg same, sponge guard was at Tk 40-50 per kg and bitter gourd was selling at Tk 60-70 per piece.
Tomato was sold at Tk 30-40 per kg like the previous week, drumstick was Tk 90-100 per kg, green papaya at Tk 60-70 per kg, arum at Tk 50-60 per kg while it was Tk 70-80 per kg a week earlier and green banana was sold at Tk 30-40 per four pieces.
However, price of onion has increased to Tk 40 per kg while it was Tk 35 per kg a week earlier.
