A Dhaka-bound microbus fell into the Padma River at Daulatdia Ferry Terminal in Rajbari when it was trying to board a ferry during the nor’easter on Tuesday.

The microbus has been salvaged, but its driver has gone missing. No-one could confirm whether there were any passengers in the vehicle.

Abdul Maunnaf Ali, who is in charge of Daulatdia River Police Outpost, told the Daily Sun that the microbus fell into the water while getting on the ferry ‘Madhabilata’ at Ghat (jetty) No. 5 at about 11:15 am.

Rescue vessel Hamza of the BIWTA rescued the microbus after a three-and-a-half-hour frantic effort, but none was found inside it, said the police officer.
