A Dhaka court on Monday sent Hefazat-e-Islam’s former joint secretary general Mamunul Haque and Rafiqul Islam Madani, widely known as ‘Shishu Bokta’ to jail in three cases.

Metropolitan Magistrate Nivana Khair Jessi passed the order after police produced them before the court on completion of their remand in the cases.

Investigation officers appealed to confine the duo until the investigation of the cases is completed in the cases filed with Motijheel and Paltan police stations over the recent violence in the capital. Mamunul was produced before the court on completion of his two-day remand in the case filed with Paltan Police Station over the recent violence in Dhaka cenering Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit on March 26. Rafiqul was produced before the same court following completion of his 11-day remand in two cases filed with the Motijheel Police Station. Mamunul was arrested on April 18 from Jamia Rahmania Arabia Madrasa of the capital’s Mohammadpur area.

On April 7, Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested Rafiqul from his ancestral home in Netrokona's Purbatola area.
