1.5 lakh set to miss 2nd dose

CHATTOGRAM: Many people, who went to receive second dose of Covid-19 vaccine, returned with empty hands due to shortage of vaccine at the vaccination centre in the port city on Sunday.

The people also staged demonstration barricading the road in front of Chattogram City Corporation General Hospital in Sadarghat area in the city protesting the incident.

Mentionable, a total of 311,377 people receive second dose of vaccine till Saturday after it started on April 8.

On the other hand, a total of 453,760 people received first dose of the vaccine before postponing of giving the dose.

Of them, around 1.5 lakh didn’t receive second dose while there is only 27,380 doses available in the stock, said sources concerned at Civil Surgeon Office.

In this situation, the second dose without SMS has been stopped at the vaccination centers, but no specific announcement was made in this regard.
