The national football camp for Bangladesh’s upcoming joint qualification for FIFA World Cup 2022 and AFC Asian Cup 2023 matches will begin today.
Head coach Jamie Day, assistant coach Stuart Watkiss and goalkeeping coach Les Cleevely will also arrive in Bangladesh on the same day.Bangladesh Football Federation earlier on Saturday announced a 28-member national squad along with five Under-23 players for the joint qualifiers, scheduled to be held in Qatar from June 3 to 15.
Bashundhara Kings players will join the camp after Eid, confirmed a club official on Sunday.
Kings players were supposed to join the team in Qatar but now they will join the camp in the capital after their AFC Cup Group D matches were postponed.
The national team will continue the camp here till May 21/22 before they leave for Qatar. The National Teams’ Committee will finalise 25 players for their Qatar trip after the camp finishes.
BFF earlier requested Qatar Football Association to arrange two practice matches for Bangladesh against two top-tier local teams in Qatar on May 25/26 and May 29 respectively.
