15 injured in clash over land dispute in Bhola

BHOLA: At least 15 people have been injured in a clash between two groups at Daulatkhan upazila in the district over land dispute.

The incident took place in a village arbitration meeting at Didarullah village under Charkhalifa union on Thursday.  A pregnant woman is also among the injured.

Local sources said Harun have long been at loggerheads with Jasim of the same area over land dispute.

A village arbitration took place on Thursday afternoon to resolve the matter. Local UP member and others village matubbars (arbitrators) were present there.

During the meeting, the rivals groups locked into an altercation and then, swooped on each other, leaving 15 people from both sides injured.

Some of the injured were admitted to Daulatkhan Upazila Health Complex and Bhola Sadar Hospital where others were given first aid.

Regarding the matter, Daulatkhan Police Station OC Bajlar Rahman said the both groups lodged separate complaints in this incident.

Legal action would be taken after investigating the matter, he added.
