Two Hefazat leaders sent to jail for violence

A Dhaka Court on Friday sent two Hefazat-e-Islam leaders to jail in a violence case filed with Paltan Police Station in the capital.

Metropolitan Magistrate Begum Yeasmin Ara passed the order after Sub-Inspector Md Enamul Haque, also the investigator of the case, produced them before the court on completion of a three-day remand in the case.

The two accused are Maulana Jubair Ahmed, Dhaka City unit vice-president of Hefazat’s now dissolved committee, and Maulana Jalaluddin Ahmed, its assistant general secretary.

Law enforcement agencies arrested Jubair from Lalbagh area on April 16 while Jalal was arrested from Mohammadpur area on April 17 in connection with the cases filed over violence on March 26.
