The authorities of Dhaka University (DU) decided to hold all final examinations online from July if the coronavirus situation doesn’t improve.

However, if the situation improves, examination activities will be conducted conventionally.

The decision came from an academic council meeting held virtually on Thursday with the Vice-chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman in the chair.

At the meeting, it was decided to take the exams in different methods (descriptive short form, MCQ, quiz, assignment and open book exam) dividing each course into multiple sections.

Besides, final exam duration and full value will be reduced, but the final result will be made by converting the evaluated result into conventional full value. Credit will remain unchanged.

In addition, computer-based practical tests will be taken online. Other lab-based practical tests will be taken following proper hygiene rules.

The deans of the faculties and the directors of the institutes were also asked to prepare a guideline for the examinations and to send it to the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic) within the next 2 weeks.
