Awami League (AL) leaders on Tuesday said that vested interests have engaged in evil politics and plots against the government amid the coronavirus pandemic.

But those conspiracies hatched by the ‘vultures’ of 1971 will be thwarted under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, they said.

The AL leaders came up with the statements at a programme arranged by Krishak League marking distribution of Eid gifts from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina among people in the capital’s Krishibid Institution, Bangladesh.

Speaking on the occasion, AL presidium member Abdur Rahman said vultures of 1971 are out to assume power through the back door when Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been making efforts to save the country’s people from the coronavirus pandemic with all her heart and soul. But their attempts will be foiled, he said.

He claimed that vested interests are trying to oust the government from power. But none will be able to do so, as party leaders and activists are alert to such possibility, he added.

In his speech, AL joint general secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim said that Awami League is not afraid of any conspiracies.

He said they will not allow religious bigots to succeed in their attempts to turn Bangladesh into Afghanistan, Sudan or Yemen. “The Awami League under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will move forward by braving all conspiracies,” he added.

Relief and social welfare secretary of Awami League Sujit Roy Nandi urged everyone to be on alert so that none can hinder the ongoing pace of development by the AL government.

Echoing the views of senior leaders, AL office secretary Biplab Barua said everyone has to stand by the people during the crisis along with fighting with all conspiracies.

Krishak League president Samir Chanda called upon all leaders and activists to remain united as the conspiracies are going on against the government.
