Sixty-five more people died of coronavirus infection and 1,739 new cases were detected in the country during the last 24 hours till Monday morning.
According to data of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the daily infection rate has declined to below nine percent in the country.Among the 65 deceased, 42 were men and 23 were women. Of them, one was within 0-10 years; two were within 21-30 years; three were within 31-40 years old; eight were between 41-50 years; 15 within 51-60; and 36 were above 60 years old.
Among the fresh deaths, 45 died in different government hospitals and 15 in different private hospitals and five died at home.
Of the deceased, 32 hailed from Dhaka, 17 from Chattogram, two from Rajshahi, four from Khulna, two from Barishal, two from Rangpur, and six from Sylhet division.
The DGHS said the total number of deaths from the deadly pathogen has reached 11,644 with 65 new deaths in the last 24 hours till Monday morning. The total death rate has risen to 1.52 percent.
Some 1,739 infection cases were reported in the last 24 hours till Monday morning, raising the total number to 7,63682. The daily infection rate has stood at 8.95 percent in the last 24 hours.
Some 3,834 more patients have recovered from the fatal disease in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of recovery to 6,91,162 in the country till the day. The recovery rate has stood 90.50 percent.The DGHS said 13.84 percent of the samples have been diagnosed with coronavirus till the date while 8.95 percent samples have been diagnosed with the fatal disease in a day.
A total of 19,431 samples, out of 19,452 collected, were tested at 420 labs in the country during the period, the report added. A total of 55,18,410 samples have been tested so far to detect coronavirus infection across the country.
The first case of Covid-19 was detected on March 8 last year while the first death was recorded on March 18 the same year in the country.
