69 more die, 1,359 cases detected

Sixty-nine more corona patients died and 1,359 new cases were detected in the country during the last 24 hours till Sunday morning, DGHS data says.

According to data of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the number of coronavirus death has been increasing day by day across the country as 1,840 Covid-19 patients died in last 21 days.

Among the 69 deceased, 44 were men and 25 were women. Of them, one was within 0-10 years; one was within 11-20 years; two were within 21-30 years; three were within 31-40 years old; seven were between 41-50 years; 11 within 51-60; and 44 were above 60 years old.

Among the fresh deaths, 48 died in different government hospitals and 19 in different private hospitals and two died at home, across the country.

Of the deceased, 38 hailed from Dhaka, 14 from Chattogram, one from Rajshahi,

five from Khulna, seven from Barishal, two from Rangpur, one from Mymensingh and one from Sylhet division.

The DGHS said the total number of deaths from the deadly pathogen has reached 11,579 with 69 new deaths in the last 24 hours till Sunday morning. The total death rate has risen to 1.52 percent.

Some 1,359 infection cases were reported in the last 24 hours till Sunday morning, raising the total number to 7,61943. The daily infection rate has stood at 9.60 percent in the last 24 hours.

Some 2,657 more patients have recovered from the fatal disease in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of recovery to 6,87,328 in the country till the day. The recovery rate has stood 90.21 percent.

The DGHS said 13.86 percent of the samples have been diagnosed with coronavirus till the date while 9.60 percent samples have been diagnosed with the fatal disease in a day.

A total of 14,158 samples, out of 14,042 collected, were tested at 420 labs in the country during the period, the report added. A total of 54,98,979 samples have been tested so far to detect coronavirus infection across the country.

The first case of Covid-19 was detected on March 8 last year while the first death was recorded on March 18 the same year in the country.

The DGHS handout said 60 Covid-19 patients died and 1,452 new infection cases were detected in 24 hours till 8am on Saturday.
