A Dhaka court on Friday sent two leaders of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh, including its former Nayeb-e-Amir Ahmad Abdul Quader, to jail in a violence case.

Metropolitan Magistrate Begum Yasmin Ara passed the order after police produced Abdul Quader and Mufti Nuruzzman Nomani before the court on completion of their remand in the case.

Earlier on April 25, Hefazat’s leader Ahmad Abdul Quader, also secretary general of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish, was placed on a five-day remand, a day after his arrest from the capital’s Agargaon area.
