68th birthday of Sheikh Jamal observed

The 68th birthday of Sheikh Jamal, son of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was observed on Wednesday in a befitting manner.

To mark the day, Awami League (AL) and its associate bodies arranged various programmes including recitation from the Holy Quran, offering milad and doa mahfil, placing wreaths at his grave in Banani and discussion.

As part of the programmes, AL and its associate bodies paid rich tributes to Sheikh Jamal, a freedom fighter, by placing wreaths at Banani graveyard.

On behalf of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the Awami League, party general secretary Obaidul Quader placed a wreath.

Later, the leaders of the AL units of Dhaka City North and South, Jubo League, Krishak League, Swechchhasebak League, Mahila Sramik League, placed wreaths at the grave of Sheikh Jamal.

Besides, other socio-political and cultural bodies, including Sheikh Jamal Jatiya Smriti Parishad, Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote and other organization placed wreaths at his grave.

On the other hand, the state-owned Bangladesh Betar and Bangladesh Television as well as private radio stations and television channels aired special programmes.

National dailies published special supplement on his life and work.

An e-poster has been published at the initiative of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s Birth Centenary Celebration National Implementation Committee marking his 68th birthday.
