Bangladesh Bank (BB) on Wednesday extended the deadline for submission of the annual audit reports by scheduled banks to June 30 due to adverse impact of coronavirus outbreak.
The central bank department of off-site supervision issued a circular in this regard and sent the notice to the top executives of all scheduled banks.Bangladesh Bank Deputy Governor AKM Sajedur Rahman Khan signed the directive giving the deadline for submission of bank annual report to June 30, 2021.
Earlier, the deadline was given until June 30, 2020 to submit the annual audit report of 2019 for the same reason. According to the Banking Companies Act, the banks are bound to submit their annual audited financial reports to the central bank within two months after the end of a calendar year. If the financial report cannot be finalised within the stipulated time due to special reasons, an additional maximum two months time can be extended as per the Bank Company Act.
