Seven Covid-19 patients, who fled a Jashore hospital, were sent back to the hospital after police had detained them from Jashore, Satkhira, Rajbari and Khulna on Monday.

They are Milon Hossain, 32, Shefali Rani, 40, Monimala Datta, 49, Nasima Akhter, 50, Amirul Sana, 52, Sohel Sarder, 17, and Bebekanda Das, 52.

The detainees were handed over to Jashore 250-Bed Hospital, said Mohammad Tauhidul Islam, additional superintendent of police (DSB) of the district.

Ten people who returned from India through Benapole Land Port from April 18 to April 24 were admitted to the hospital, as they tested positive for coronavirus, he said.  But all of them managed to flee the hospital, said the police officer.

“We collected names and addresses of the patients from the Benapole Port authorities and detained them from their houses,” he said.

The officer said three others -- Fatema, 19, Ruma, 30, and Prodip Biswas, 37, -- were kept in isolation in their own houses.
