‘Start genome sequencing to detect corona variant’

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Sharfuddin Ahmed gave an instruction to start genome sequencing to detect the variant of Covid-19 at a programme on the university campus on Thursday.

BSMMU’s Professor of Anatomy Department Dr Laila Anjuman Banu presented a scientific explanation on genome sequencing while Chairman of Pharmacology Department Prof Dr Md Sayedur Rahman, Chairman of Virology Department Prof Dr Saif Ullah Munshi, Professor of Hematology Department Md Salahuddin Shah and Assistant Professor of Pathology Department Prof Dr Bishnu Pada Dey came up with scientific opinion, said a press release.

BSMMU Pro-VC (administration) Prof Dr Muhammad Rafiqul Alam, Pro-VC (research and development) Prof Dr Md Zahid Hussain, Pro-VC (academic) Prof Dr AKM Mosharraf Hossain and Treasurer Prof Dr Mohammed Atiqur Rahman, spoke at the event.

BSMMU Registrar Professor Dr A B M Abdul Hannan and Proctor Professor Dr Md Habibur Rahman Dulal were present, among others.
