Local airlines have resumed domestic flight operation on domestic routes after 16 days break due to the strict lockdown by the government.

US-Bangla Airlines and Novoair operated their flights with a low volume of passengers on Wednesday while Biman Bangladesh declared to start operation from Thursday.

Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) lifted the ban on all domestic routes, except Cox’s Bazar on Tuesday.

On the first day of flight resumption, Novoair ran flights to Chattogram, Jashore and Syedpur and Sylhet.

US Bangla Airlines operated five flights from Dhaka to Chattogram, Sylhet, Jashore, Syedpur and Barishal.

Biman announced it would begin operating flights from Dhaka to Chattogram, Sylhet, Barishal, Jashore and Syedpur from Thursday.

Air travel on domestic routes was shut down on April 5 in an effort to curb a massive second wave of coronavirus infections.
