Bangladesh won’t participate in Miss Universe 2020

Bangladesh will not participate in the 69th edition of the ‘Miss Universe’ competition, to be held on May 17 this year in United States.

National Director of ‘Miss Universe Bangladesh’ competition Shafiqul Islam confirmed the news to the Daily Sun on Tuesday.

Shafiqul Islam said, “Due to lockdown and travel restrictions we could not complete all the preparations, including, physical test and natural beauty test and visa processing for Miss Universe. So we will not be able to participate in Miss Universe 2020.”

“Earlier this week, we informed Miss Universe USA management to withdraw our name from the competition and on Monday Miss Universe authorities withdrawn Bangladesh’s name from their list”, he added.

Earlier, the grand finale of ‘Miss Universe Bangladesh 2020’ was held at the Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden in Dhaka on April 3. Actor and model Tangia Zaman Methila clinched the title of Miss Universe Bangladesh 2020 in the programme and she was supposed to represent Bangladesh in 69th edition of the ‘Miss Universe’.
