Police are still in the dark about the identity of a woman who was ‘murdered after rape’ at a house in Sabujbagh in the capital on April 10.

They could not ascertain why and how the woman, 35, went into the house.

Law enforcers arrested two youths -- Sazzadur Rahman Jubayer, 33, son of the house owner, and Mahbubur Rahman Mamun, 28, a tenant of the house, and question them in their custody in relation to the murder, but still couldn’t crack the mystery. Sabujbagh police recovered the body of the woman from the second floor of the house at Shahibagh Bank Colony in Dakkhingaon on the afternoon of April 10.

The face of the woman was covered with a piece of polythene while the whole body was wrapped up in a katha (a kind of blanket), but there was no dress on her body. There were cuts on her jaw and throat.

Aminul Bashar, inspector (investigation) of Sabujbagh Police Station, told the Daily Sun on Monday that they are trying to identify the woman. Her finger print does not match with NID server, he said.

“We have evidence that Jubayer took the woman to their house and killed her after rape. But we could not extract any information from him about the identity of the woman. I suppose he is a cold-blooded murderer.”

Sub-inspector Aslam Alif, who is investigating the murder incident, told the Daily Sun that Jubayer and Mamun are both suspected of committing the murder.
