National Advisory Committee on Covid-19 has advised the government to facilitate free corona test at government laboratories in the country so that people are inspired to go to hospital for corona test.
The committee also advised to re-fix the corona test fee at private laboratories and do needful for isolating the corona patients from general patients.The national committee came up with the advice in its 31st virtual meeting held on Sunday night with the committee president Prof Dr Mohammad Shahidullah in the chair, said a press release on Monday.
The committee advised to carry out coronavirus sample test by the government lab at free of cost in a bid to make the sample test available.
“It also advised to refix test fee at private
lab as the PCR test kit price have dropped at a significant rate. This will increase number of coronavirus test, the test also will come within the reach of people and it also will be at reasonable price. Pressure of test at government lab will be reduced. It also will help to ensure immediate isolation of patients after getting test report which is very important to check the coronavirus infection,” it said.
The committee also advised to extend countrywide lockdown for another week in a bid to contain the transmission of coronavirus infection.
Expressing concern over high rate of coronavirus infection and death across the country, the national committee reiterated that it earlier advised for imposing lockdown for at least two weeks.“The government already declared lockdown for one week from April 14. The committee expresses satisfaction over it. Though effective result can’t be expected from lockdown for less than two weeks but the committee realizes the matter of keeping industries factories open for the sake of country’s economy,” they said.
However, the National Advisory Committee on Covid-19 also gave proposal to set up kitchen market in open place.
Expressing thanks to the government to launch the largest DNCC Market Covid-19 dedicated hospital, they emphasized on taking arrangement to increase more capacity rapidly due to pressure of admission of patients.
The committee also said it is necessary to set up coronavirus sample collection booth at every ward in urban areas, in a bid to ease the sample collection and bring the facility in purview of people.
“It is also recommended to carry out rapid antigen test in sample collection booth to send the test report quickly,” they added.
The committee also advised to ensure treatment for pregnant coronavirus infected mothers and non-Covid-19 mothers in government and private hospitals and clinics as per the decision of the government.
They also advised to continue the telemedicine service to ensure treatment of all mild coronavirus infected patients at home.
