Fake company fined Tk one lakh in Rangpur

RANGPUR: A mobile court in an anti-adulteration drive seized huge quantities of unauthorised medical goods from a fake company and fined its in-charge Taka one lakh in the city on Saturday.

“The Detective Branch (DB) of Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) initiated the mobile court led by Executive Magistrate Mahmud Hasan Mridha to stop production and marketing of fake and adulterated products in the city,” said a press release issued on Sunday.

The court conducted the raid at Mahir Enterprise in Mulatol Pakarmatha area of the city and seized the unauthorised foreign medical products worth Taka 10 lakh from the company office, reports BSS.

Later, the court fined in-charge of the fake company Md Shahin, 50, of village Marupara in Ghoraghat upazila of Dinajpur district Taka one lakh under section 44 of the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009 on the spot.

The mobile court also destroyed the seized unauthorised medical products.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (DB) of RpMP Uttam Kumar Pathak, its Inspector ABM Feroz Wahid and Sub-inspectors Md Babul Islam, Md Golam Morshed and Md I H Laky Sarker and other officials participated in the raids.
