Filmmaker Sajedul Awwal passed away

Filmmaker, researcher and playwright Sajedul Awwal passed away on Thursdays. He breathed his last at his residence in the capital due to corona related complications. He was 63. 

According to his family member, Sajedul Awwal was hospitalised last month after being infected with Covid-19. He was later brought home after his corona test came negative. On Thursday evening suddenly he was feeling unwell due to breathing problem. He died within half an hour after the complication.

Sajedul Awwal was born on March 25 in 1958 in Cumilla. He joined Dhaka Theatre in 1973. He wrote the famous play, ‘Foni Monsha’ for the troupe. He also researched on eminent filmmaker Ritwik Ghatak, and authored a book titled ‘Cholochitro Chorcha’. He was also attached with Bangladesh Short Film Forum from its inception.

Awwal directed a film titled ‘Chitkini’, starring Runa Khan,  Manas Bandopadhyay and others.
