Bangladesh Railway (BR) will operate special parcel trains to help farmers transport their produce during the weeklong strict lockdown starting from today.
Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan said this at a press conference held at Rail Bhaban on Tuesday.“Life and livelihoods have to continue amid the pandemic. Bangladesh Railway has decided to operate special parcel trains so that the farmers can transport their crops,” the minister said.
He also said the railway was carrying oil and fertilizer and reminded that they operated special parcel trains in the past for carrying mango and cattle.
As per the plan, Bangladesh Railway will operate eight parcel trains on four routes – Dhaka-Sylhet, Chattogram-Sarishabari, Khulna-Chilahati, and Dhaka-Panchagarh – from today, the minister said.
