Sprinter Ismail returns home with injury

The country’s fastest man Md Ismail returned with a hamstring injury from Iran on Tuesday.

He received the injury during the long jump event after finishing eighth in the 100m sprint event with a timing of 10.91 sec in the International Athletic Imam Reza Cup Tournament, held on April 11-12 in Iranian city in Mashhad.

Ismail, who was part of a four-member team -- three athletes and an official went to Iran to compete in the competition.

Among others, Mahfuzur Rahman ended sixth in the high jump event while Al Amin finished ninth in the long jump event. 

A Bangladesh Athletics Federation official informed that the team is currently doing quarantine at Combined Military Hospital and will be freed only after testing Covid-19 negative.
