Moon sighting committee meets today

The National Moon Sighting Committee will hold a meeting today to determine the start of holy Ramadan, the lunar month of self-purification through fasting and abstinence.

The meeting will start at the conference room of the Islamic Foundation's Baitul Mukarram office in Dhaka with State Minister for Religious Affairs M Faridul Haque Khan in the chair, said a press release.

 “The meeting will be held for reviewing the news on moon sighting and taking decision on the beginning of holy Ramadan of hijri 1442. The meeting will begin at around 6:45pm after Maghrib prayers."

The committee has also requested people to inform deputy commissioner and upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) if Ramadan moon appears anywhere in the sky. They can send the information by calling--9559493, 9555947,9556407 and 9558337 or send it by fax on 9563397 and 9555951.
